Darwin R. "Dick" Gemerek, age 78, of Geddes Street, died unexpectedly at his residence October 9, 2013. He was born on November 9, 1934 in Clarence, NY to Stanley and Mabel (Peck) Gemerek and had been a life-long resident of the area.
Mr. Gemerek served in the US Army Reserves from 1955-1961 and retired from Eastman Kodak Company. Dick was a member of the Clarendon Lions Club and a member and 3rd Degree Mason of the former Holley Masonic Lodge. Mr. Gemerek attended Canisius College, was a great story teller, enjoyed fishing, was an avid golfer, a chocoholic, reveled in spending time with his grandchildren and was revered as, "The Best Grandpa Ever!"
He is survived by his wife Ann; sons, Mark (Julie), Larry (Ann), Michael (Laurie); daughters, Ellen (Pat) Beyor, Betsy (DL) Webster; grandchildren, Jennifer Gemerek, Jake Gemerek, Joe Gemerek, Christina Gemerek, Melanie Gemerek, Matthew Gemerek, Emily Gemerek, Erik King, Kari King, Sam Webster; step-grandchildren, Eric Restivo, Misty Cadle; brothers, Robert Gemerek, Allyn (Kay) Gemerek; sister-in-law, Ruth Gemerek; in-laws, Harry (Nancy) Emerson, Bill (Barbara) Emerson, Ray (Susan) Emerson, David (Diane) Emerson, Lynda Emerson, five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Route 31(West Albion Road) Holley, SUNDAY from 1-3 PM, where Dick's Memorial Service will follow at 3 PM. Interment in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
