Donald O. Brazzell

MEDINA — Mr. Donald O. Brazzell, of Medina, passed away on Friday evening, August 9, 2013, at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Mr. Brazzell was born in Medina, February 10, 1921, a son of the late William and Ella (Root) Brazzell. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1941, he served with the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific from 1942-45. On July 17, 1945, he married the former Constance Rose Kowalik and they resided in Medina.

Mr. Brazzell was employed by Curry's Toggery Shoppe, as the store manager, for 32 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary's Church and Lincoln Post #1483, VFW. An avid woodworker, he also enjoyed playing golf and fishing.

Survivors include his three children, Kathleen (Perry) Kickbush of Middleport, William (late Kathy) Brazzell and Maureen (Earl) Ruhlman, both of Medina; four grandchildren, Michael (Danielle) Kickbush, Kimberly (Jeremy) McCauley, William (Justina) Brazzell and James (Lindsey) Brazzell; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife in December 1981; three sisters, Mary Evelyn Poler, Eleanor Rosenstretter and Jane Wheatley; and two brothers, John E. and George Brazzell.

Friends may call on Tuesday (10-12) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.  A private funeral service will be held at the family's discretion. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
