Mildred E. Carr

MEDINA — Mrs. Mildred E.  (Waters) Carr, of Medina, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Mildred was born in Medina on March 16, 1922, daughter of the late George and Louise (Bracey) Waters. She grew up on the family farm on West Shelby Road and was a graduate of Medina High School, class of 1940. She worked locally, retiring from Niagara Mohawk, Medina office, in 1977.

Mildred married Charles Carr on June 29, 1957.  Mildred and Charles worked together as wood crafters for many years at home, craft shows and Pioneer Days at the Albion schools. Mildred was very strong in her faith. She was a 60+ years member of First Presbyterian Church of Medina and also attended West Barre United Methodist Church.

She and Charles spent many special years at the family cottage on Lake Ontario and at Lakewood camp ground, Myrtle Beach, SC.

Mildred was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Western Orleans Senior Citizens, the Johnson Creek Senior Citizens and the Eagle Harbor Home Bureau. Mildred enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, you were always welcome at their home.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Charles, on Oct. 18, 2002. Survivors include her sister, Donna (Lee) Johnson of Medina; their children, Karen (Dean) Dibley, Ken (Pam) Johnson and Susan (Kevin) DeHollander; six great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nephews. Also two daughters, Ruth (Richard) Miller and Nicki (Paul) Tiffany; grandchildren, Julie and Tim Trembley, Gwen Jones, Michelle and Brain Sullivan, Kristen and Eric Ruest, Vicki and Les Kuipers, Richard and Nicole Miller; 15 great-grandchildren; the Ganley family nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Many cousins also survive her along with best friends, George and Sarah Molnar of West Virginia.

As per Mildred's wishes,  there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 1PM at the First Presbyterian  Church, 522 Main St., Medina, which is handicap accessible. Interment will be in the Carr Family Plot, Hillside Terrace, Mt. Albion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 522 Main St., Medina, NY 14103; West Barre United Methodist Church, 5377 Eagle Harbor Rd., Albion, NY  14411; or Knights-Kaderli     Memorial Fund, POB 684, Medina, NY  14103. Arrangements were completed by the Cooper Funeral Home, Medina.
