HERNANDO, FL —
Helen I. Scott, age 94, of Hernando, FL (formerly of Medina) went home to meet the Lord on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River, FL. Helen was born in Kendall, NY on February 24, 1919 to Ambrose and Ada Belle (Waterson) Watts. She graduated from Lyndonville High School in 1936. Helen and her husband, Edson, were married in 1937 and moved to Bigford Road in Medina in 1944 where they lived and raised their family until they moved permanently to Florida in 1975. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved to cook, sew, knit, crochet, garden, and walk. She walked a couple miles each day right into her 80's. She enjoyed doing her crafts and went to many craft shows to sell the many beautiful items she made. She was always on her hands and knees in her gardens pulling weeds and tending her plants. Anyone who remembers Club 31 in Medina, will remember that she cooked many a meal there and managed the place for the owner, Tony Napoli, when he was out of town. She was a charter member of the Shelby Vol. Fire Co. Aux. She was a giving person who loved her family, her neighbors, and the life she was living.
Survivors include her two daughters, Rose Marie (Bruce) Austin of Rochester and Geraldine Zinkievich of Medina as well as daughter-in-law, Jessica Scott of Florida. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Darrell (Debbie) Austin and Julie (Tony) Peritore of Rochester, Kris (Sandra) Zinkievich of Maryland, Kirk Zinkievich, Todd (Amy) Zinkievich and Malinda (Chad) Kenward of Medina, Adam (Lila) Scott of South Carolina, Ryan Scott and Aaron Scott of Florida. She had twenty-one great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Naomi Watts of Medina; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edson J. Scott; her son, Roy E. Scott; brother, Sidney J. Watts; and son-in-law, James Zinkievich; and several sisters and brothers-in-law on her husband's side.
Cremation will be by McGan Cremation Service in Florida. There will be no calling hours. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Millville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
