Rosa Lee Morris, age 87, formerly of Albion, died peacefully on February 14, 2013, at Strong Memorial Hospital, following a short illness. She was born May 12, 1925 in Warm Springs, GA and had lived most of her life in this area. Rosa was a stellar homemaker, avid human rights advocate and an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church for over 30 years. She worked at Nutrifare Meals on Wheels in Albion as a cook, and took great pride being awarded Citizen of the Year.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis E. Morris, Sr.; grandson, Lewis A. Morris III; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her son, Lewis A. (Pamela) Morris, Jr. of Batavia; daughters, Charlese (David) Smith of Akron, OH, Patricia L. Dunbar of Albion; goddaughter, Vivian Moultrie of Rochester; god granddaughters, Mercedes Moultrie, Nkenge (Ike) Lewis, Sharifa (Reggie) Pryor, all of Rochester; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five god great-grandchildren; her spiritual son, Jesse Eason and her spiritual sisters, Mary Patterson, Julia Thompson, Mattie Jackson and several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Shiloh Baptist Church Monday from 11:00-12:00 Noon, followed by her funeral service at 12:00, with the Rev. Ruben Goff officiating. Interment will be in Transit Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church. Arrangements by Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., Albion.
