Onalee M. Hess


Onalee M. Hess, of Knowlesville, passed away on Friday evening, November 1, 2013 at The Villages of Orleans. Mrs. Hess was born in Albion on July 17, 1938, a daughter of the late John and Margaret (White) Jacobs. On April 27, 1957, she married Richard D. "Dick" Hess, Jr. and was a lifelong resident of the area.
She was employed by the Lee-Whedon Memorial Library for twenty years and retired in 2000. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge of books and authors with library patrons. Onalee was a member of the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed singing, in the community choir groups in Knowlesville and Lake Wales, FL. She was an avid reader and a devoted Yankees fan. Following retirement, they resided yearlong in Lake Wales for a couple of years.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Dick; three sons, Scott (Sarah) of Albion, Thomas (Cindy) of Brookfield, CT and Rick (Brenda) III of Albion; six grandchildren; a sister, Carol Gozdziak; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marjorie Narburgh, and Haleda M. Reed; and her brothers, John Jacobs, Jr. and June Townsend.
Friends may call on Tuesday (4-8 PM) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 PM. The Rev. Richard A. Csizmar, pastor of Holy Family Parish, will officiate and interment will be in Bates Road Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lee-Whedon Memorial Library.
