Doris I. Moore, of Medina, passed away on February 5, 2014 at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Moore was born in Pulaski, VA, July 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Rayo Lee and Custis Octavia (Craig) Howlett.
A 1941 high school graduate, she married Charles William Moore, Sr. on December 18, 1941. She was a longtime Medina area resident. For many years they operated the Cook Farm at Devil's Nose, Town of Hamlin. Later she resided at 738 Church Street in Medina, where she had a home beauty salon. She was a hairdresser from 1966-1974. Earlier she worked in retail and Bells, IGA. Mrs. Moore was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medina. Her mother's quote was "Love, Caring and Sharing". She lived it.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Hand of Texas; her son, Brian (Nancy) Moore of Holley; her daughter-in-law, Linda Moore of Medina; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Caralee) Howlett of Phoenix, AZ. She was predeceased by her husband on September 1, 2012; two sons, Randall Moore in 1942 and Charles W. Moore, Jr. on July 19, 2012; and her granddaughter, Julie Goff, in 2009.
A graveside committal service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at a time to be announced. The family wishes to extend a grateful Thank You to the staff at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Medina. Arrangements are being handled by the Cooper Funeral Home, Medina.
