Clara Mae Scharping, 77, of Medina, entered into rest, suddenly, Friday afternoon, November 16, 2012, at the Medina Memorial Hospital.
Clara Mae was born January 7, 1935 in Hampstead, NC, a daughter of the late James and Clara Mae (Sellars) Lea. She graduated from Topsail High School in Hampstead. She worked as a factory worker at the former Ontario Foods in Medina and retired after many years. Clara Mae enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going out to breakfast with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Pamela Leiter of Rochester; Peggy Scharping of Gasport; Patty (Mike Zamniak) Carpenter of Medina; and Charles (Linette) Scharping of Gasport; 13 grandchildren, including a special grandson, Daniel L. Cooke; five great-grandsons; brother, Jesse (Jackie) Lea and sister, Emily Webb, both of Wilmington, NC; several nieces and nephews; also survived by her former husband, Keith M. Scharping, Sr. of Middleport; and her best friend, Pat Elsom of Medina. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her eldest son, Keith M. Scharping, Jr. on October 25, 2011.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were completed by Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
