TOWN OF RIDGEWAY —
John J. "Jack" "Schnoz" Stilwell, of the Town of Ridgeway, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 2, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Stilwell was born on May 4, 1925 in Medina, the son of the late Joseph and Edna (Newton) Stilwell.
He attended St. Mary's School and Medina High School and played with the Semi-Pro Football team, the Medina MACS. A U.S. Coast Guard veteran of WWII, he served from 1942-46. On October 8, 1947, he married the former Glenyce Blissett. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Mr. Stilwell worked as an Associate Chemist at FMC for many years, retiring in 1986 and also loved farming with the Knights family. He was a life-member Lincoln Post#1483 VFW and Butts-Clark Post#204 American Legion. For many enjoyable years, he played with the American Legion Drum Corps. An avid Buffalo Bills fan, Jack and Glenyce held season tickets for over 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 66 years, Glenyce Stilwell; three daughters, Jaye (Tim) Sullivan, Jann Sloper and Jacalyn (Donald) Organisciak; six grandchildren, Mackenzie (Adam) Smith, Joseph (Tiffany) Organisciak, Justine (Justin) Bachulak, James Organisciak, John Parada and Joslyne Parada; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Elias.
Friends may call at the family home, 12481 Route 31 on Friday (3-7 PM). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richard Knights/Sue Kaderli Memorial Fund, Inc., P.O. Box 684, Medina, NY 14103. Arrangements are being handled by the Cooper Funeral Home, Medina.
