SHELBY CENTER —
John A. Cox, of Shelby Center, passed away early on Tuesday morning, November 12, 2013 at his home. John was born in Albion on March 25, 1958, a son of Clayton Cox and the late Frances E. "Jean" (Campbell) Cox.
A graduate of Medina High School, Class of 1976, he married the former Teresa Quackenbush. John was employed by the New York State Dept. of Corrections, as a corrections officer, at the Orleans Correctional Facility, retiring after twenty-seven years of service. He was a member of NYSCOPBA. He lived life to the fullest. John enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard and playing golf. He was an original member of the band, The Who Dats. John enjoyed the martial arts, obtained a black belt, and was an instructor at Kwandrans Tae Kwan DO.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa; two daughters, Amanda Cox (Seab Mollahan) and Amber Cox (Michael Gazy); step-children, Olivia (Terry) Holloway and Joseph "JC" Chambers; grandchildren, Sylvia, Savanah, Ava, Morgan, Emily, Brodie and Gavonni; his father, Clayton Cox; grandmother, Emma Monagan; siblings, Sharon (Tim) Albone, Clayton Paul Cox and Jeannie (Joe) Deyarmin; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday (2-4 PM) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where his service will be held at 4 PM immediately following visitation. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans County or the Knights/Kaderli Memorial Fund.
