Joseph R. Jurinich II

MEDINA — Mr. Joseph R. Jurinich II of Medina, NY and Ruskin, FL, died Sept. 20, 2013, at home in Medina, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Bellefonte, PA on January 7, 1933 to Joseph R. and Ruby (Kucas) Jurinich, who predeceased him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley (Zeigler) Jurinich; a sister, Agnes Recco of Lyndonville; six children, Joan (John) Doran of Waterport, Bernadina Townsend of Cortland, Joseph (Sandy) Jurinich III of Riverview, FL, William C. Jurinich and Michael (Jacqueline) Jurinich, both of Lyndonville, and Cynthia (Robert) Turner of Albion; 20 grandchildren, John (Kim) Doran, Jeff (Patty) Doran, Matt (Fran) Doran, Chris (Barb) Doran, Adam (Jennie) Doran, Christopher (Joella) Townsend, Tracey Calloway, Gretchen Schubert, Laura Leiva, Katie Jurinich, Joseph Jurinich IV, Laura (Pete) Welkey, Billie  Jo (Jonathon Freed) Shernesky, Max P. Joseph (Caitlin) Jurinich, Jexelle (Ralph) Boyd, April (Christopher) Williams, Lindsay (Marquez) Smith, Samantha (Ron) Croft, Jeremy (Maria) Turner, Justin Turner; 38 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Kimberly (Larry) Parlier) Siffringer, Christine (Robert) Sherry and a nephew, Sam (Melinda) Recco; several nieces nephews and cousins living in Bellefonte, PA and extended family in NY and FL. He was also predeceased by a sister, Margaret Ann Jurinich.

Joe was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of Lockport, Local 280. He was a local businessman, having owned the Village Green and the Park House, as well as being in the construction and harness racing business for many years.

Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing euchre and loved discussing politics. He was a past member of the Lyndonville Lions Club and Lyndonville Investment Club.

Friends may call on Tuesday (2-4, 7-9) at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where his service will be held on Wednesday at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans County, 14080 Rte. 31 W., Albion, NY  14411; or Lyndonville Lions Club.
