Clayton Gregory Fletcher, Sr., 81, of Medina, NY, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at his home with his loving family at his side and now joins his beloved wife, Geraldine T. Fletcher in their eternal home. Born on June 19, 1932 in Knowlesville, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Beatrice (Gregory) Fletcher. Clayton married the former Geraldine Felstead on July 27, 1952, making their home in the Ridgeway area and together raising eight children.
Clayton was a self employed in logging and making firewood and also drove truck for Shelby Crush Stone and Shoreline Fruit. He enjoyed gardening and yard work and was known for his celebration of Christmas with lights in his yard.
Clayton is survived by his children, Clayton G. (Sue Whittier) Fletcher, Jr. of Albion, Linda (Ken) Lonnen of Waterport, Laurie (Ron) Schlegel of Medina, Lee (Connie) Fletcher, Keith (Beth) Fletcher, Karen (Tony) Ricci, Jeanne (Larry) Bale, all of Lyndonville and Jody (Tom) Pawlik of Fort Wayne, IN; along with twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley (Brent) Mank of Lyndonville, Florence Gary Ehrenreich of North Carolina and Mary Hall of Medina; a sister-in-law, Stella Dewing of Albion; and many friends, including John and Ben. He is predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Al Dewing and Don Hall.
There are no calling hours. A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Bates Rd. Cemetery, Medina (corner of Bates Rd. & Rt. 104) with the Rev. Kim Smith and the Rev. Christopher Wylie co-officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Knights-Kaderli Memorial Fund, 11079 Furness Parkway, Medina, NY 14103 or to Hospice of Orleans Co., P.O. Box 489, Albion, NY 14411 or to Knowlesville United Methodist Church, 3622 Knowlesville Rd., Knowlesville, NY 14479. Arrangements were made through the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina, NY 14103.
