Severino "Sam" Ottaviano


Severino "Sam" Ottaviano, of Medina, passed away suddenly on Thursday evening, October 17, 2013 at the Medina Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ottaviano was born in Vasto, Italy on April 27, 1931, a son of the late Joseph and Michelina (Moretti) Ottaviano. In 1950, he married the former Carmella Natale. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary's Church, enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing and hunting. He spent many happy times at the OTB in Albion where he enjoying playing the horses. He often returned to his native Italy where he spent time with his family. Mr. Ottaviano was employed by American Brakeshoe, later Abex, for many years where he was a mold maker.
Survivors include three children, Louis (Robyn) Ottaviano of Lyndonville, Marie Ottaviano and Frank Ottaviano, both of Medina; eight grandchildren; a great-grandbaby; a brother and two sisters living in Italy; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Natale of Medina and one living in Argentina; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Carmella, on May 30, 2011.
Friends may call on Tuesday (4-7 PM) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11 AM at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary's Church. Entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Lockport. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
