It was “Thank You Fans” night at Sal Maglie Stadium. The Niagara Power showed their appreciation by managing just four hits in a 5-0 loss Thursday to New York Collegiate Baseball League foe Webster.

PORTER CUP: Qualifier only a week away
The qualifier is open to the first 96 players with a USGA-verified handicap of three or under who apply. An entry fee of $150 includes two rounds (one for practice and another to qualify) and a buffet lunch. The lowest eight scores will qualify for the Porter Cup, which begins on July 22.

MEN'S HOCKEY: Pagliero, Rocco among Eagles headed to camps
Two-time all-College Hockey America goalie Juliano Pagliero has been invited to the Chicago Blackhawks developmental camp. Vince Rocco could pop up in camps for San Jose and Columbus. Dan Sullivan is hoping to finalize a deal with an Italian pro team. Ted Cook is close to signing with the ECHL’s Florida Everblades.

After getting whitewashed 12-0 on Saturday, the Power bounced back with a football-like showing on Sunday, kicking field goals in each of the first three innings en route to a comfortable 12-5 victory in the opening game of a doubleheader against Hornell.

BASE PATHS: Power trip was one wild ride
If the route to Alfred was a golf hole, the Power drove the green and then needed five putts to get down. An Alfred village police officer suggested that super chauffeur Cal Kern have the team set aside the huge “Road Closed, Violators Will Be Prosecuted” sign and replace it after his bus passed through.
