Baseball

• CAYUGA HEAT 13U and 14U: The Cayuga Heat baseball program will hold 2009 tryouts for its 13U team at noon Sept. 20 at 93rd Street. Call 471-6012 for more information. Also, tryouts for its 14U team will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 27 and 28 at Jayne Park. Call 870-0106 for more information.

• LEWISTON 9-13U: The Lewiston travel baseball program are holding 2009 tryouts. The 9U team will have tryouts at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pletcher Road Park Yellow. For more info, call 531-2368. The 10U team will hold its tryouts at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pletcher Road Park Blue. Call 799-2527 for more info. The 13U team will hold its tryout at 9 a.m. Sunday at Washuta Park. Basketball

• WOMEN’S OFFICIALS: The Western New York Board of Women’s Basketball Officials will offer a training course for new officials starting Sept. 18. To become a certified women’s official, contact Ken-Ton Continuing Education at 874-8500.

Bowling

• TOWN OF NIAGARA: The Town of Niagara Recreation Department’s adult bowling league is forming with two-person mixed teams on Monday nights at Frontier Lanes. For more information, call 297-5243, ext. 202.

Ice Skating

• TOWN OF TONAWANDA: The Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department will hold registrations for ice skating lessons for all students from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17 and Oct. 1 at Lincoln Arena. Lessons will run from Oct. 11 to Nov. 9, meeting for five 30-minute sessions. Lessons will be held from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Sundays. Skill levels start at age 3 and go up to adults. The fee for the first session is $40, with all payments made directly to the skating instructors the nights of registration. Soccer

• TRAVEL TRYOUTS: The Niagara Pioneer Soccer League will hold tryouts for the 2009 season at Fort Niagara fields 1 through 5 at the following times: 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 20, 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 27, and 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 28. Boys and girls ages are invited to tryout for teams ranging from U10 to U19. Players must present their $135 entry fee and a small picture to participate. Softball

• CAYUGA GAMBLERS: The Cayuga Gamblers softball program will hold 2009 tryouts at the 93rd Street facility at the upcoming times — 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. For more info, call Jim at 471-2665 or e-mail at jbradfam@aol.com.

Swim

• NU LESSONS: Instructional classes at Niagara University’s Kiernan Center will be conducted on Sundays andn Wednesday’s, beginning Sept. 17. The Wednesday lessons will be held at 5:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m., and 7 p.m. The Sunday classes will start at 11 a.m., 11:50 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. A parent/child swim program for infants will also be offered. The program costs $60.

Volleyball

• NT WOMEN’S LEAGUES: The North Tonawanda Department of Youth, Recreation and Parks is conducting registration for its women’s volleyball leagues. The fee is $175 for resident teams and $200 for non-resident teams. Entry deadline is Oct. 15. Roster forms and additional information can be obtained by contacting Patty Brosius at 695-8520, ext. 508.
