Seven state championship tournament competitors head the annual Journal-Register All-Orleans County wrestling squad as selected by the coaches.

Holley eighth-grader Quinton Murphy, who captured the state 103-pound Division 2 (small schools) championship, heads that group which also includes Holley junior Tim Banks (119) and the Medina quintet of seniors Eric Velez (125), Richard Dawson (189) and Nick Joy (160), sophomore Dominic Montesanti (130) and freshman Dylan Duncanson (135). Velez placed third in the competition, Banks fifth and Dawson sixth.

Medina is also represented on the first team by sophomore Evan Wells (119) and Holley by senior Ken Ryan (135), junior Kyle Steadman (189), sophomore Sean Baylor (215) and eighth-grader Jessi Kimmerly (96).

Albion has placed the trio of seniors Tyler Olles (285) and Will Francis (171) along with sophomore Seth Lowery (112); Lyndonville the threesome of seniors Josh Bowman (145), Mike Green (130) and eighth grader Sam Recco (96) and Kendall the duo of Jacob Requa (96) and Cody Lansberry (152).

Murphy, who captured first place in both the Section V Class BBB and super sectional competitions, posted a season record of 45-1 upping his career record to 83-8.

Banks, who likewise won the BBB tourney and placed second at the super sectionals, went 47-4 on the season and has a career record of 135-18.

Velez, who took first place honors in the Niagara-Orleans League, Section VI Class AA and Section VI state qualifier tournaments, went 46-3 on the season.

Dawson, who also took top honors at the N-O, AA and Section VI state qualifier tourneys, posted a 41-7 record.

Joy, who won an N-O title and placed second at both the AA and Section VI competitions, went 40-9 on the season.

Montesanti, a two-time state meet competitor who won N-O and AA titles and placed second at Section VI, compiled a 42-7 record.

Duncanson, who likewise earned N-O and AA titles and placed second at the sectionals, went 41-9.

Wells, who won an N-O title and placed fourth at both the AA and Section VI tourneys, went 30-15.

Ryan, who placed second at the BBB tourney and third at the super sectionals, had a 39-8 season record to finish with a career mark of 168-51.

Kimmerly, who placed second at the BBB tourney, went 26-11.

Steadman, who went 36-8 and Baylor, who was 34-11, both placed third at the BBB tourney.

Olles, who posted a 33-6 record on the season, won the N-O tourney and placed second at both the Class AAA and Section VI competitions.

Francis, who was 29-12, placed third at both the N-O and AAA tournaments while Lowery, who was 26-13, took third at the N-O and fourth at AAA.

Green went 30-5 on the season (84-21 career), Recco 29-9 and Bowman 27-13 (50-46 career) for Lyndonville.

Recco placed second at the Section V Class B tourney and fourth at the super sectionals. Green also placed second and Bowman fourth at the Class B tourney.

Lansberry, who placed fourth at the super sectionals, went 32-6 on the season (112-48 career) and Requa 18-3 for Kendall.

Earning honorable mention on the all-county squad are seniors Garrett DeFilipps and Colton Chappius and eighth grader Kacee Sauer from Holley; freshman James Mapes, senior Matt Hilobuk, freshman Azael Tapia and junior Joe Blair from Albion; sophomore John Brabon, senior Tyler Palmer, eighth grader Josh Brabon and senior Aaron Follman from Lyndonville along with Zack Sobierski, Jimmy Wiler and Phil McClaren from Kendall.

Mapes placed first at the N-O tournament and Tapia third at Class AAA, while Josh Brabon took first at the Class B tourney and John Brabon and Follman second.

Blair went 26-10 on the season, Hilobuk 23-13, John Brabon 34-9, Follman 27-10, Palmer 26-12 (104-31 career), Josh Brabon 16-10, DeFilipps 26-13 and Chappius 24-17.
