The Mustangs traveled to Akron for a Niagara-Orleans League meet and won every race, coming away with a definitive 124-30 victory. Medina improves to 2-1 in league play, 4-2 overall, while Akron drops to 0-3 in the league.
Junior Austin Heil had a nice afternoon for the Mustangs, winning the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:12.12 and also emerging victorious in the 500 freestyle at 6:06.20.
Sophomore Chase Pecoraro won the 200 individual medley at 2:39.56, and also took the 100 breaststroke at 1:21.00.
Medina also won all three relay races on the afternoon. The Mustangs return to action Thursday, traveling to Roy-Hart for a rivalry contest.
Roy-Hart 110, Newfane 55
Roy-Hart remains perfect on the season at 3-0 in N-O competition, 7-0 overall, while Newfane drops to 1-2 in the league.
Roy-Hart coach Bruce Matthews was particularly impressed by the competition in the 100 breaststroke, which saw Newfane's Andrew Hamelink edge Roy-Hart's Lyle Wagner by just one-tenth of a second, 1:10.29 to 1:10.39.
Roy Phipps also emerged as a double winner for the Rams, winning the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:13.53, and emerging victorious in the 100 freestyle at 51.69.
