LOCKPORT —

MIDDLEPORT — After the Lady Rams took the first two sets of Tuesday's match, Medina showed some early spunk in the third set, splitting the first 12 points at 6-6.
Roy-Hart then began to pull away by winning 12 of the next 13 points, taking an 18-7 lead and withstanding a late Medina rally for a 25-18 victory in the third set. Consequently, Roy-Hart came away with a 3-0 victory in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match on Tuesday evening.
Roy-Hart improves to 7-2 in league play, while Medina falls to 4-5.
Eliza Schwab led the way for Roy-Hart with 11 service points, four for aces, and 13 setting assists. Lady Rams coach Bill Holahan said Schwab's setting acumen down the stretch was key in his team's ability to pull away for the victory.
"We passed and served pretty well," Holahan said. "But Schwab's setting makes the offense go."
Roy-Hart's Justine Wittcop had six service points, one for an ace, and five kills, while Courtney Van Buren had seven points and two kills. Brianna Lewandowski also added 10 service points for the Lady Rams.
Medina was led by Nicole Blount with five kills, while Brittany Schultz had three kills and Brittany Button had three aces.

Albion won the first two sets 25-23 and 25-15, before falling in the third and fourth sets by consecutive 26-24 margins. The Lady Purple Eagles bounced back to win the decisive fifth set, 25-16.
"In the third set, we missed seven serves, and we let them back in it," veteran Albion coach Ann Capacci said. "When you let a good team think they can play, they play. We didn't shut the door, and they got the momentum back."
Ally Bubar had 11 kills for the Lakewomen, while Alyssa Schlosser had 33 digs.
