The next meeting of the Medina Codes Task Force will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 10 at City Hall, 600 Main St., Medina. A public hearing on the proposed expansion of K&K Food Marts on Maple Ridge Road was postponed Tuesday evening at the Village of Medina Planning Board meeting Code enforcement officer Marty Busch said the referral to the Orleans County Planning Board had not been sent, so at the April meeting, the county board deemed the site plan “incomplete.” The referral has now been sent, and the Medina Planning Board has set the public hearing for 7:05 p.m. June 3 at the village hall, 600 Main St.
The Medina Codes Task Force will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the third-floor conference room at the Village Hall. The task force will discuss revisions to the Medina Village Code relating to code enforcement and property maintenance. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
The Orleans/Niagara BOCES school board’s audit committee will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Niagara East Conference Center, 4124 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn.
The Town of Shelby Planning Board will convene at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the town hall. They are expected to make a decision regarding EPCO’s proposed CO2 Plant. The plant will rest on a parcel of land owned by Western New York Energy next to the ethanol plant on Bates Road.
Pick up a pencil and see where it takes you. Genesee Community College is offering a doodles to drawing workshop at the Medina Campus Center. The three-week workshop will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from May 5 through 21. Led by professional artist Diana Martin, participants will discover new ways of looking at the world as they make it come to life on drawing paper. The intent is to get people to see that they can draw, how good their work looks and help them to realize their hidden talents. Martin’s experience ranges from working as a high school art teacher to running her own business, The Drawing Room Studio in Medina. She teaches art classes at the Forrestal Farm Camp and has had work published in Sports Illustrated. As a member of Go Art! and a substitute teacher for Genesee Community College, she continues to contribute her artistic talents to the community. This non-credit course is open to students age 17 and older. A $15 registration fee includes course materials. The Orleans County Cornell Cooperative Extension will provide an update on farm truck regulations and hold a mock truck inspection by New York State Police from Troop “A” in Batavia at 10 a.m. April 8 at the fairgrounds. The clinic will begin in the Trolley Building for a presentation by the officers and then move to the Lartz Building for a hands-on demonstration of a mock inspection. The cost is $5 per person.
