ALBION: Incumbent Christopher is back in supervisor's race

Incumbent Eugene Christopher is back on the November ballot for Town of Albion supervisor, three days after losing to Town Councilwoman Judy Koehler in the Republican primary.

This time he’s on the Democratic ticket.

“I’m definitely not out of the race,” Christopher said. “I’ve worked too many years to help make the town what it is today. We have a very good team. I don’t want to bow out just because I lost the primary.”

According to Albion resident Scott Rytlewski, who was present at the Democratic caucus at the Knights of Columbus Thursday evening, Republican nominee Koehler did not receive enough votes to run unopposed on the Democratic ballot, as well.

In the Republican primary Tuesday evening, Koehler beat Christopher by 81 votes.

“They will battle it out again in November,” Rytlewski said. “That’s politics at it’s finest.”

Other nominees were Chris Kinter for Town of Albion highway superintendent, who will run against Republican incumbent Jed Standish.

Clifford Thom Sr. and Town of Albion Judge Dennis Stirk were nominated for Albion Town Council, along with incumbent Jeanette Riley.

Incumbent Sarah Basinait was endorsed as Town of Albion clerk. She was also endorsed as a Republican and will run unopposed.
